You love to work closely with designers, product managers and business stakeholders across multiple projects and think strategically about the technological solutions that will deliver the best results for our clients. About the Role 

As a Senior WordPress Developer, you will lead WordPress development support for a strategic healthcare client engagement on three existing sites including monthly features development, site assessments, and plugin update support. You will spend time as an IC contributing to project code working alongside product managers, designers, and other engineers. You will also consult on new feature tech architecture decisions needed to build scalable web and mobile WordPress experiences. You will translate complex technical challenges into elegant solutions and technical architectures, write high-quality production code, and ensure delivery of reliable, performant experiences that drive client success and user adoption.

Technical Development and Architecture 

• Develop and maintain frontend WordPress sites using modern frameworks and best practices across the entire technology stack. 
• Maintain site performance and accessibility standards.
• Maintain site stability with existing cross site integrations and third-party plug-in updates
• Design, architect, and implement frontend interfaces
• Own end-to-end frontend development from technical discovery through deployment, testing, and ongoing iteration.
• Write clean, well-tested, production-quality code with comprehensive automated testing and monitoring.
• Build responsive, accessible user interfaces that deliver seamless experiences across devices and platforms.
• Implement and optimize to ensure performance at scale.
• Integrate third-party APIs and other services as needed.
• Cover on call downtime support 24/7, 365

Code Quality and Best Practices 

• Participate in thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, security best practices, and design patterns.
• Adhere to engineering best practices including test-driven development, continuous integration/deployment, and DevOps principles. 
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack with systematic problem-solving.
• Optimize application performance including load times, rendering efficiency, and resource utilization.
• Ensure secure coding practices and implement proper authentication, authorization, and data protection measures.

Collaboration and Project Management 

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers, and client stakeholders in distributed environments. 
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, client syncs, and stand-ups.
• Translate business requirements and user needs into clear technical solutions and implementation plans.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, from engineering teams to client executives.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional frontend development experience with a proven track record of shipping production applications.
• Strong proficiency in modern WordPress infrastructure frontend and WordPress backend
• Demonstrated expertise building WordPress websites with modern frontend
• Solid understanding of backend development including API integrations, performance and database design
• Experience in designing and implementing efficient SQL and NoSQL database schemas to support scalable applications with a deep understanding of relational and NoSQL data modeling.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and modern CSS frameworks/methodologies (Tailwind, Sass, CSS-in-JS, etc.).
• Strong grasp of web development best practices including responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), and performance optimization.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows (pull requests, code reviews).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment (AWS, Google Cloud, Heroku, Vercel, or similar).
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, FusionAuth, session management).
• Experience with testing frameworks and writing automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end).
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in iterative development cycles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to debug complex issues across the full stack.
• Strong communication skills, especially in remote and asynchronous work environments.
• Ability to work effectively with distributed, cross-functional teams including product, design, and engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with modern fullstack frameworks
• Experience with state management libraries (Preferred Zustand)
• Knowledge of modern API design patterns.
• Background in DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure as code.
• Experience with analytics platforms and event tracking (Google Analytics, Segment, Mixpanel, etc.).
• Familiarity with payment processing and e-commerce systems.
• Experience building data visualization interfaces and dashboards.
• Understanding of WebSockets, real-time communication, and event-driven architectures.
• Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with performance monitoring and APM tools (New Relic, DataDog, etc.).
• Knowledge of web security best practices and common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10).
• Eagerness to learn and integrate AI tools to achieve development efficiency.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering culture.
• Background working in agency or consultancy environments serving multiple clients.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
